Lisa has been a life changer for me! I have a desk job, and have not kept up on my fitness. Every time I started to work out, I would be in such pain that I would quit right away.

Now I feel like I can keep improving my fitness level because of Lisa's expertise. I highly recommend Lisa and her body work program! -

I was having tons of problems with balance, stamina, and general overall health due to an old ankle injury which made my entire body off-balance. I was falling a lot and had little proprioception. Then, more recently, I had right breast … More cancer, so half my chest was removed, which further aggravated my balance. I decided to start working with Lisa, and, oh boy, what a difference!! I am stronger and I haven't fallen for quite some time now, primarily because I am going barefoot more often, at Lisa's suggestion, and I have been working religiously on my balance. I also have more stamina and strength; I only anticipate that this will get better since I will continue to work with Lisa. It's wonderful that she has lessons on-line if one of us is out of town. Probably one of the unintended consequences of working out is I now have so much more energy! Give Lisa a try for 3 months, and you will not regret the time spent. She's also a ton of fun!

At 73, I have had several good trainers, but Lisa is different. I have been working with her for about a year. During our time together, we have achieved all of the goals (better balance & posture, limberness...is that a word?...weight … More loss & pain relief) that I set with her. She is flexible & very easy to work with and really cares about her clients' wellness. She has provided hands on instruction for reducing certain pain issues for me to use on my own. Her practice includes many different methodologies, including massage, if it's needed, during the session. She also encourages other physical activities outside of her practice & follows up with how these activities affect her client & how better to utilize them. I highly recommend Lisa.

Lisa is amazing. She has a wholistic approach to bodywork in a totally supportive and non-intimidating atmosphere. Her impressive breadth of knowledge is driven from a passion for what she does for overall health. I get hives just driving … More past a commercial gym, but against all odds I am enjoying the workouts she designs for me because they are manageable and I see RESULTS!! Take that osteoporosis!

Lisa has transformed my life. I see her individually once/week on Zoom, then do my exercises alone (to energizing music!) during the week. She customized a workout program for me for my lower and upper body using resistance bands and free … More weights. After less than 5 months, I feel 20 years younger (I’m 72).I turned to Lisa because I was becoming progressively weaker and had chronic muscle pain. I now move freely and confidently with no pain. I’ve built (visible) muscle and I’m much stronger. I now can easily do everyday activities that had become difficult for me. After sitting for an hour or more at a restaurant, in the car, or for shorter periods on the floor, getting up was painful due to weak muscles and an old knee injury. Now I get up easily with no pain. I’ve even started some light jogging, something I haven’t been able to do for almost 20 years! My upper body is also improving as I strengthen my arms and shoulder muscles and continue to increase the amount of weight I lift. When I started, it was difficult, and the exercises left me tired. After about a month, I felt energized and motivated to do more. Lisa is very good at giving feedback on form and proper movement so that you optimize your workout. She is knowledgeable and her passion for her work is inspiring. Lisa is also very supportive and encouraging. She will have total confidence in you.I realized I’d been nurturing this myth that as we age, we inevitably become weaker and weaker and there is nothing we can do about it but accommodate. Not true!! Lisa also likes to remind me that I can do more than I think I can, which gives me increased confidence in my ability to change my body.If you know you need help but are making excuses or can’t get up the courage, just go for it! Get a friend to join with you. Remember: you can control the pace that works for you. After a couple of months, your physical AND mental health will improve! What’s there to lose except some weight? Yes, that too!

I have been lucky enough to work with Lisa for almost a year. I started with a fundamentals of Pilates class. I now take Pilates as well as a HIIT class with Lisa. I entered as a reluctant group exerciser with bad back pain. I am also not … More typically a "joiner" either. Lisa's class changed all that. She taught me that exercise does not (nor should it) cause pain. Pain does not equal a "good" or more productive workout. In fact, my old workouts were what was causing my back pain in the first place. Lisa is an incredible instructor: knowledgeable, respectful and patient. She has an awareness of body that is unmatched. Thanks to Lisa, my back pain has gone away and I have gained a new perspective on exercise: one steeped in patience and kindness and Lisa inspired that change. The fitness world is full of empty promises and fast-tracks to injury. Lisa rises above all of it. She is a rare gem and a great find. I recommend her expertise and her classes wholeheartedly.

I have been training with Lisa, at ABQBeFit, for two years now and I couldn't be happier with her instruction and attention to detail. She offers a different approach to physical fitness that focuses on strength, flexibility and personal … More attention.I started with a physical assessment, by Lisa, where we identified goals and areas of weakness. Pre-COVID our workouts were in her studio, which is warm and inviting with lots of different props to keep workouts fun and engaging.Post-COVID, Lisa has maintained the fun and engaging via ZOOM, to keep everyone safe until we can be together again.I currently workout with Lisa with a friend twice a week and then take a few of her group classes which include, HIIT and Buff and Tuff. HIIT is a great cardio workout to get a good sweat and feel great after, while BUFF and Tuff is strength training that focuses on those muscle groups that get overlooked, as well as, the major muscle groups. You just don't find this quality of instruction most places.I continue to workout with Lisa several times a week and am looking forward to going back to the studio soon, which in person, is always more fun.

I have exercised with LisaKnighton for more than 25 years. She has been at the forefront of fitness throughout her career. She meets all of her clients individually or in classes where their level of fitness is and designs a program to … More help them achieve their goals. Lisa’s commitment to a holistic approach to fitness means that her approaches are varied—from cardio, Pilates, weight training, yoga, meditation. She is also equally comfortable teaching in a pool, outside, as well as in a studio. Her classes strengthen the body, but they also strengthen the mind by incorporating balance work and complex movement to keep neural pathways vibrant. Throughout her career she has taught people of all ages, fitness levels, goals and backgrounds and with these individuals she has made fitness fun and integral. She creates lasting community around fitness.

When the pandemic canceled my Barre class, I tried ABQBeFIT online Zoom classes and loved them! Lisa - the owner and instructor - has many years of experience, and delivers an upbeat, sincere, engaged, personalized approach. She’s great … More at keeping track of what everyone is doing, and offering helpful suggestions and corrections. There’s lots of clear demonstration and encouragement here, with the added benefit of having a few laughs with some great folks. And we’re all just doing it in a room in our homes! There are several types of classes to choose from, and they all encompass the idea of functional strength. There’s nothing more practical than training your body now to have the ability to move functionally later in life. The “Strength and Power for Women” class is informative, effective and fun! I’ve also been doing the Weight Training class after years of fear over hurting myself if I used hand weights. Lisa helped me get over the fear, and I surprised myself with what I was capable of doing. In addition to the classes, I have worked with Lisa privately on recurring physical issues. She gave me a short routine to do every day before I exercise, and it is helping me be aware of, and correct, movement patterns that cause my hip and leg discomfort.ABQBeFIT has helped me physically and mentally during this challenging time.Try it!! You’ll be glad.

From Face-to-Face classes to.... ZOOMing across 1500 miles!Nothing lost, everything to gain.Lisa Knighton of ABQ Be F.I.T. is a dedicated, knowledgeable fitness instructor who I have been working with across 20 years. PILATES has been the … More focus of our most recent work together, initially in in-person classes in Georgia. When Lisa moved to ABQ we sadly said goodbye thinking that rare meet ups when on vacation would be the most we would ever see of one another.Enter the unexpected global pandemic. After my first 6 weeks of isolation in 2020, I saw on IG that Lisa was offering classes online and thought it might be a welcome change from pre-recorded exercise videos. So, once again, I joined Lisa's Pilates class, this time from 1500 miles away. The shocking truth is that it's just as good as being there (except that I am never late because I don't have to throw all my gear in the car and traverse the traffic during rush hour to get to her studio). We have now been working together every Saturday since late April 2020 (and I've even pulled my daughter in Denver into the class). Honestly, I have never stuck with any exercise class as long as this current ZOOM Pilates class, nor have I ever felt stronger. Lisa's knowledge of anatomy and her interest in functional fitness is providing me with greater core strength and balance than I have ever had. Having now experienced that ZOOM knows no geographic boundaries, I think I will continue taking classes with Lisa....forever.

Can I tell you how much I despise exercise? And can I now tell you that Lisa is the only person in my 5+ decades who not only gets me to commit to exercise, but makes me like it (just a little). She is so kind and compassionate but still … More pushes me to do more than I think I can. She's a master at modifying an exercise if you truly can't do it--but encourages you (if safe) to try first--and knows 20 different ways to work any given muscle. I'm always amazed at how creative she is in crafting a workout. And she always changes things up so you never get bored!Whether it's a class or 1:1, I always feel a sense of accomplishment and that I've done something good for my body after working with Lisa. Her classes are great, but the 1:1 is even better!

First let me say supportive, attentive, open hearted, and fearless. I was having chronic severe pain in my hips for months day and night. No pain medicine, acupuncture, or chiropractic work helped. I was in trouble. I saw Lisa Knighton’s … More ad in the Los Ranchos neighborhood magazine. I called her. In two months the pain dissolved. I couldn’t believe it!
